Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Senior Systems Reliability Engineer to lead RAM engineering efforts for strategic deterrence programs. You will develop reliability methodologies, perform RAM analyses, and present results to sponsors and contractors.

The role requires active or ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and occasional travel to sponsor sites.

Qualifications

  • PhD in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field.
  • RAM engineering experience in critical systems design, development or evaluation.
  • Apply RAM approaches (FMEA, FMECA, RAM diagrams, PRA) to inform program decisions.
  • Develop RAM requirements from mission needs and concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willing to travel locally and to sponsor sites as needed.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reliability engineering expertise and leadership for strategic deterrence programs.
  • Contribute as a reliability engineer on projects, studies, and technical groups covering requirements, design, acquisition, risk assessments, test planning, and evaluation.
  • Develop reliability methodologies and analyses to assess weapon system performance and capabilities.
  • Deliver formal presentations and reports integrating concepts, analyses and recommendations.
  • Identify risk areas and propose mitigation strategies that are cost- and schedule‑effective.
