Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Senior Reliability Engineer to lead RAM engineering activities for strategic deterrence programs within the Force Projection Sector. You will apply reliability, safety, and systems engineering principles to assess and improve resilience of future weapon systems, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and delivering analyses and recommendations.

The role requires strong RAM expertise, excellent communication, and the ability to travel;

Qualifications

• PhD or near completion in engineering, math or physics.
• RAM engineering experience in design, development or evaluation of critical systems.
• Apply reliability methods (FMEA, FMECA, RBD, FTA, PRA) to quantify risk.
• RAM requirements allocation based on mission needs and user concepts.
• Strong communication and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Willing to travel and eligible for Top Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Provide reliability engineering expertise and thought leadership for strategic deterrence programs.
• Participate on projects and groups focusing on requirements, concept development, risk assessments, test planning, and evaluation.
• Develop reliability methodologies and analyses for existing and future weapon systems.
• Deliver presentations and reports combining concepts, requirements, results, and recommendations.
• Identify risk areas and propose mitigation strategies considering cost and schedule.
