Job summary

Viking Corp in Michigan is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to advance the performance and regulatory compliance of our fire protection products. You will work across sprinklers, valves, special hazards, detection and CPVC lines to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

You will lead projects, apply GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, coordinate supplier and testing activities with UL, FM and other agencies, and create clear documentation from design through certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3-7 years’ experience in product design and development.
• Proficiency in GD&T, datum dimensioning and tolerance stack-ups.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, die casting, forging, stamping and automated assembly.
• Strong teamwork, project management, communication and leadership skills.
• Analytical ability and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop familiarity with Viking product lines across sprinklers, valves, special hazards, detection, and CPVC.
• Ensure compliance by maintaining knowledge of standards and manuals.
• Maintain product certification by root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate testing and recertification with UL, FM, NSF, and other agencies.
• Lead projects using ISO processes and keep to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Create drawings and specifications using GD&T and Viking standards.
• Communicate with customers and stakeholders to address changes and status.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness in R&D Lab and operate test equipment.
