Job summary

Viking Corporation in Caledonia, MI seeks an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to advance fire protection products and ensure regulatory compliance across the product line. You will develop solutions, manage testing, and drive certification efforts with external labs.

You will coordinate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, apply GD&T and SolidWorks daily, and lead projects to on‑time, on‑budget delivery while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• High analytical ability and strong problem‑solving skills.
• 3–7 years of product design and development experience.
• GD&T, datum dimensioning and tolerance stack‑ups.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC, die casting, forging, stamping, automated assembly).
• Teamwork, project management, communication and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Understanding of basic finite element analysis (FEA).

Responsibilities

• Develop familiarity with Viking products and manufacturing processes.
• Ensure compliance by maintaining knowledge of approval standards and manuals.
• Maintain product certification via root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate product testing and recertification with UL, FM, NSF, VdS, LPCB and IAPMO.
• Evaluate compliance against standard changes and coordinate resolutions.
• Analyze projects for risks and communicate lessons learned to stakeholders.
• Lead projects using ISO processes and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Use engineering tools to improve long‑term product performance.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing teams throughout projects.
• Create drawings and specifications with GD&T adherence.
