Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer for its Bagdad, AZ operations. The role focuses on eliminating system constraints, maintaining continuous production, and leading root cause analyses to improve reliability and reduce costs.

You will evaluate processes, set performance KPIs, identify PM opportunities, and analyze CMMS data while ensuring safety and quality standards across maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s with 3 years.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Understanding of safety, legality and quality in operations.
• Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Identify system constraints and pursue elimination through continuous improvement.
• Ensure production is uninterrupted and reduce costs via maintenance methods.
• Lead root cause analysis of equipment failures; implement corrective actions.
• Research reliability processes to predict and improve reliability.
• Evaluate processes onsite and set department expectations for precision maintenance.
• Review and establish KPIs for equipment performance.
• Identify PM opportunities and maintenance plans via FMEA.
• Analyze CMMS data to monitor health indicators.
• Provide safety perspectives and engineering solutions to hazards.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Identify system constraints and proactively pursues elimination of them through the continuous improvement cycle.
• Ensure continuous production is uninterrupted by equipment failures and reduces production costs through development of maintenance methods to improve process efficiency and reliability.
• Lead others and/or performs root cause analysis of equipment failures. Acts as a subject matter expert as required and assists in the identification and implementation of corrective actions or technologies.
• Research new reliability processes and identifies methods to predict and improve reliability.
• Perform onsite evaluation of existing processes and equipment and sets expectations within the department for precision maintenance.
• Review and establish Key Performance Indices for equipment.
• Identify PM opportunities and maintenance plans by leading failure mode and effect analysis.
• Analyze current CMMS data for equipment health indicators and identifies reports to measure health indicators.
• Proactively develops and provides safety perspective for equipment and processes; makes recommendations of engineering solutions or methods to eliminate hazards.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and five (5) years related experience in Engineering, OR
• Master’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in Engineering.
• Proficiency of MS Office suite including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project
• Ability to listen and understand information and ideas and express thought and ideas clearly and concisely through oral and written communication.
• Customer focused to provide quality service to improve equipment and process reliability.
• Knowledge and understanding of reliability centered maintenance practices.
• Experience with engineering design drawings and schematics
• Self-starter with solid integrity
• Understand the importance of safety, legality and quality.

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $97,500-$138,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
