Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. seeks a Reliability Engineer for the Sierrita operations near Tucson, AZ. You will review and advance reliability projects, coordinate with Operations and Maintenance, and ensure safety, cost control, and environmental protection.

Ideal candidates hold a related engineering degree (BS with 3+ years or MS with 2+ years) and strong knowledge of reliability engineering and safety practices. Opportunities include career growth and comprehensive benefits in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Must have engineering degree and relevant experience in reliability engineering.
• Knowledge of probability and statistics applied to reliability.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and risk assessments.
• Ability to analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for Reliability Engineering projects.
• Utilize new technology to upgrade site safety, efficiencies, and cost controls.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and other Eng staff on problem solving.
• Coordinate project activities to improve equipment maintenance availability and KPIs.
• Ensure documentation for assigned projects is prepared and accurate.
• Participate in small to medium site construction, expansion, or modification projects.
• Manage vendor contracts for services and equipment.
• Develop knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations relevant to the area.
• Perform additional duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Review, investigate, and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Reliability Engineering projects.
• With minimum supervision utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment.
• Participate with Operations and Maintenance departments and other Engineering staff in problem solving efforts to improve safety, efficiencies, cost controls and protection of the environment.
• Coordinate project activities with Operations and Maintenance departments to improve equipment maintenance availability and other KPIs.
• Ensure appropriate documentation for assigned projects are prepared and review documentation for accuracy.
• Participate on small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects.
• Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
• Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor's degree in related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR
• Master's degree in related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
• Knowledge in probability and statistical analysis
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Reliability Engineering
• Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

• CMRP Certification
• Experience with crushing and conveying systems
• Experience with mobile equipment
• Knowledge of condition monitoring technologies such as vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, thermography, or ultrasonic testing
• Electrical systems experience in an industrial environment
• Experience performing RCFA, FMEA, orAsset criticality assessments

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$87,500-$120,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
