Job description

Cox Automotive is seeking a talented Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join their team. The Senior RTE is an outcomes-driven problem solver responsible for leading large and complex Agile Release Trains (ARTs) to success by managing the delivery of software solutions across diverse environments.

The role involves creatively resolving impediments, managing risks, ensuring value delivery, and driving continuous improvement at the program level. The Senior RTE acts as a key link between multiple Scrum teams, facilitating communication, sharing progress updates, and maintaining focus on successful delivery. They are accountable for the coordination, execution, and delivery of value through the program, aligned with company strategies and goals.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing strategic release trains with complex scope and dependencies.
  • Facilitating ceremonies and work management for the Release Train and associated delivery teams.
  • Coordinating release planning and stakeholder communication during feature definition and delivery.
  • Managing the backlog and ALM tool data integrity, including metrics and KPIs.
  • Coordinating major feature releases involving multiple teams or solution groups.
  • Resolving issues, managing dependencies, and mitigating risks across ARTs and teams.
  • Using agile metrics and ceremonies to identify improvement opportunities and enhance organizational performance.
  • Participating in the RTE and Scrum Master Community of Practice to maintain alignment and improve practices.
  • Supporting cross-training and collaboration among ARTs and solution groups.
  • Applying Agile principles pragmatically with stakeholder management.

WHO YOU ARE

Required qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 4+ years of experience, or equivalent combinations such as a master's degree with 4 years, a Ph.D. with 1 year, or 10 years of related experience.
  • 4+ years' experience as a Release Train Engineer.
  • Previous experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Project/Program Manager.
  • Strong technical aptitude with experience leading quality software delivery.
  • Experience with ALM tools; Rally or Targetprocess experience is a plus.

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience interpreting and leveraging agile metrics.
  • Ability to facilitate large planning and solutioning sessions.
  • Understanding of Agile at scale methodologies.
  • Experience with Organizational Change Management practices.
  • Experience working in Agile organizations using Scrum, XP, Kanban, or similar practices.

Compensation ranges from USD 99,000 to 165,000 annually, depending on location, skills, and experience. Benefits include flexible paid vacation, holidays, wellness hours, and other leave options.
