Job summary

MMR Group is seeking a Senior Relay Technician to join our Utility Services team. The role involves testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of protective relaying systems in utility and renewable energy facilities. Travel is required, and leadership of small field crews is expected.

The candidate will mentor junior technicians, review test plans, and ensure projects meet customer specifications and industry standards while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or GED; 8+ years relay testing and commissioning experience in utility substations.
• Proficient in reading one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams and relay settings files.
• Able to travel; primarily MS, TX, LA, AR.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crews on relay and commissioning projects.
• Coordinate testing activities with customers and project teams.
• Train and mentor Relay Technicians and Apprentices.
• Prepare test reports and commissioning documentation.
• Maintain safety and quality standards on site.
