Job summary

MMR Group in Brookhaven, MS is seeking a Senior/Lead Relay Technician to join our Utility Services team. The role tests, commissions, maintains, and troubleshoots protective relaying systems and substation equipment at customer sites across MS, LA, TX, AR, with travel as needed.

You will lead field crews, mentor junior technicians, coordinate with customers and project teams, and ensure projects meet safety and quality standards while delivering reliable power system protection.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relay testing and commissioning experience in utility substations.
• Experience with transmission and distribution protection systems.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings.
• Willingness to travel predominantly in MS/TX/LA/AR.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, commissioning, maintenance testing, and troubleshooting of protective relays and control systems.
• Lead field crews on relay and commissioning projects.
• Train and mentor Relay Technicians and Apprentices.
• Prepare accurate test reports and commissioning documentation.
• Maintain safety and quality standards on all projects.
