Job summary

Electric Power Systems in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a Senior Relay Technician to serve as technical lead for protection and control systems. You will conduct advanced testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and oversee full project execution for substation and industrial C&I systems.

You will mentor junior engineers and relay technicians, interact with customers and utilities, and drive safety and reliability across field operations through expert analysis and leadership.

Qualifications

• Pass pre-employment drug screen; safety sensitive position.
• Criminal background check required.
• Willingness to overtime and travel.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing protective relays in transmission, generation, or distribution substations.
• Ability to troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls circuits.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety briefings and promote safety culture.
• Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and components.
• Install, commission, test, and perform functional tests on relay panels and components.
• Lead end-to-end testing with relay test equipment and software.
• Read and validate protection schematics and system configurations.
• Develop project execution and commissioning plans.
• Coordinate resources and field activities for large projects.
• Prepare comprehensive test and commissioning reports.
