Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Settings Engineer to design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate protective relays and relay control schemes. The role requires 7+ years of relay settings experience in major utility substations, with potential base locations in multiple U.S.

cities including Raleigh, NC. Responsibilities include modeling, short-circuit studies, and ensuring adherence to client standards while presenting solutions to customers and working with internal teams to deploy

Qualifications

• Requires a BSEE with power systems focus (MS if offered).
• 7+ years in protection and control engineering and relay settings.
• Experience with ASPEN and/or CAPE; PE registration is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, specification, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Modeling, short-circuit and overstressed breaker studies and recommendations for interconnections.
• Ensure all relay settings activities conform to policies and client design standards.
• Present technical solutions to customers and respond to questions in real time.
• Collaborate with Qualus teams to implement technical solutions.
