Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Principal Relay Settings Engineer in the United States to lead protection and control design for major utility substations and interconnections. You will specify, calculate, and coordinate relay settings and control schemes, with emphasis on high-stakes client interactions.

We expect 12+ years in protection engineering, PE registration, and strong communication skills. The role supports multiple projects and requires collaboration across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of protection and control engineering experience.
• Must have CAPE and/or ASPEN experience.
• PE registration required; working-state registration a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; effective communicator.
• Ability to identify software needs for design work.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, set calculations, and coordinate protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Model short circuit and overstressed breaker studies for generation interconnections.
• Provide recommendations in line with client standards and policies.
• Present technical solutions to customers and address questions in real time.
• Collaborate with Qualus teams to implement engineering solutions.
• Support multiple projects in parallel.
