Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior/Lead Relay Field Technician in our Specialized Field Services group in the US. You will perform testing and routine maintenance of transmission and distribution substations, relaying, pilot channel equipment, and related controls and communications gear.

The role involves interpreting detailed substation drawings, writing test procedures, and executing tests with attention to safety and operational continuity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout.
• Proficient in testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Strong knowledge of 3-phase power systems and protection schemes.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret substation drawings (one-line, AC/DC schematics).
• Write procedures or test plans for maintenance and construction activities.
• Perform testing: verify voltages/currents, metering, relays, alarms, and switches.
• Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying/control equipment; commission equipment.
• Plan, schedule, and complete test activities with minimal outages.
• Provide project technical support to field staff.
