Job summary

Cathay Bank is seeking a seasoned Relationship Manager in California to handle both client-facing business development and portfolio management within a lending team. This role targets new loan clients and ongoing portfolio care, with emphasis on credit quality and regulatory compliance.

The RM will work with underwriters and loan staff to finalize CCRs, negotiate terms, and ensure timely closing while delivering best-in-class service to clients.

Qualifications

• U.S. College graduate with major in related fields, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of commercial lending and banking experience with knowledge of lending regulations and underwriting practices.
• Strong loan negotiation (rates, terms, collateral) experience.
• Previous underwriting experience in commercial lending.

Responsibilities

• Identify and bring new loan clients with annual goals.
• Negotiate and structure primary loan terms; circulate concept memo if needed before term sheet/LOI.
• Prepare Credit Commitment Reports with underwriter and loan staff for new loans, renewals, amendments and annual reviews.
• Present CCR to approval authorities; responsibility for content lies with RM.
• Review loan documents for accuracy.
• Ensure closing items are in process and managed; manage the client experience.
• Monitor credit quality of the assigned portfolio.
• Assess credit risk and minimize loss through risk rating and action.
• Ensure compliance with bank and regulatory requirements; provide excellent customer service.
• Mentor and coach junior officers and loan staff.
