Job summary

Westfield Insurance in Berkeley Heights, NJ, seeks a Senior Underwriter, Reinsurance, to underwrite Stop‑Loss, Excess Reinsurance and other specialty products. You will work with brokers to price and design quotes and manage assigned MGA/MGU relationships.

Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer A&H, you will influence underwriting strategy and collaborate in peer reviews, growing partnerships with brokers, TPAs and vendors in a hybrid workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in A&H or related field and 8–10 years of professional experience in the A&H business with demonstrated knowledge of Stop Loss and Excess Reinsurance.
• Strong current technical knowledge of Employer Stop Loss.
• Established broker relationships

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Stop‑Loss, Excess Reinsurance and other specialty products for Stop‑Loss and A&H programs.
• Price and design quotes in collaboration with brokers to acquire individual accounts and business via MGAs/MGUs.
• Manage profitability and relationships of program business written through assigned MGUs and brokers.
• Propose effective underwriting strategies across multiple product lines.
• Present new and renewal opportunities to our Peer Review team (UW, Actuarial, Claims).
• Contribute to underwriting strategy development and execution.
• Develop strong relationships with partners (brokers, TPAs, vendors) and manage assigned relationships.
• Engage with brokers and customers in person when needed.
• Participate in new product development as part of the A&H team.
