Job summary

Brooks Insurance Agency, the wholesale brokerage of Venbrook Group, seeks an experienced Excess Liability Insurance Underwriter in New Jersey. This technical role concentrates on risk evaluation, disciplined pricing, and portfolio profitability across contracting/wrap-up, product liability, service classes, real estate, and institutional exposures.

You will make binding decisions within delegated authority, collaborate with brokers and internal carrier teams, and maintain precise underwriting

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in excess casualty or surplus lines underwriting.
• Experience making binding underwriting decisions within a delegated authority framework.
• Strong knowledge of E&S casualty coverage structures and pricing methodology.
• Ability to analyze complex risk submissions, loss data, and exposure information.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex excess casualty risk submissions across target classes.
• Determine coverage structures, attachment points, limits, terms, conditions, and endorsements.
• Maintain a profitable book of business by applying underwriting guidelines.
• Collaborate with brokers and carrier teams to communicate decisions clearly.
