Job summary

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is seeking a Group Underwriter II (Stop Loss) to support the Sales team with rating and underwriting for 100+ markets. You will produce rates, renewals, and special financial arrangements while ensuring GEIs and BIFs are accurate.

Experience in Stop Loss underwriting is highly preferred. The role includes attending renewal meetings, updating monthly financials, and generating ERISA filings as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Math, Statistics, or Accounting
• 3+ years experience in health insurance with Rating/Underwriting
• Stop Loss underwriting experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Develops and issues proposal rates for group size 100+ and experience rated proposals.
• Develops and issues experience rated renewals for group size 100+.
• Develops and issues renewal and proposal rates for alternately funded groups.
• Approves GEI and BIFs where applicable.
• Researches rate and benefit inconsistencies and issues corrections and/or recommendations.
• Assembles data and produces ERISA 5500 reports and settlements and issues to Sales.
• Makes decisions to offer special financial arrangements to groups and monitors outcomes.
• Attends meetings with groups and brokers to discuss renewals and proposals and makes recommendations.
• Maintains and updates monthly financial reports necessary for Enterprise Operations.
