Job summary

Westfield in Berkeley Heights, NJ is seeking a Senior Underwriter, Reinsurance to join the A&H Underwriting team. You will underwrite Stop-Loss and Excess Reinsurance and partner with brokers to design quotes for new and renewal accounts.

Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer, you will develop underwriting strategies, manage relationships with MGAs/MGUs, and present opportunities to our Peer Review team. Hybrid work arrangement in the NJ area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, 8–10 years of A&H experience with Stop Loss and Excess Reinsurance (as per preferred qualifications).
• Strong current technical knowledge of Employer Stop Loss.
• Established broker relationships.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Stop-Loss and Excess Reinsurance for new and renewal business.
• Price and design quotes with brokers for individual accounts and MGA/MGU outputs.
• Manage relationships and profitability of program business written through MGAs/MGUs.
• Develop underwriting strategies across various product lines.
• Present new and renewal opportunities to the Peer Review team (UW, Actuarial, Claims).

Job Summary

The Senior Underwriter, Reinsurance, will be part of the Westfield A&H Underwriting team. You will be responsible for underwriting Stop-Loss, Excess Reinsurance and other specialty products.

Reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer A&H, you will be a key contributor to the overall analysis and management of our new and renewal business.

You will work directly with brokers to successfully price and design quotes to acquire individual accounts and business produced through MGA/MGU’s.

You will manage the relationship and profitability of program business written through assigned Managing General Underwriters.

The senior underwriter will propose effective underwriting strategies across various product lines.

You will be part of and present new and renewal opportunities to our Peer Review team (UW, Actuarial, Claims).

Contribute to the development and execution of our underwriting strategies.

Developing strong relationships with our business partners is a key goal for the department (Brokers, TPAs, vendors, etc.) You will manage specific assigned relationships.

Engage with brokers and customers in-person when needed

• Participate in new product development as part of the A&H team.

The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $170,000.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, plus 8-10 years of professional experience in the A&H business with demonstrated knowledge of Stop Loss and Excess Reinsurance
• Strong current technical knowledge of Employer Stop Loss
• Established broker relationships
