Job summary

AIG is seeking a Supervisory Accountant, Reinsurance, to join the Reinsurance Controllership team and oversee accounting, controls, and monthly close for external reinsurance programs. You will engage with offshore resources to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely close.

The role requires strong reinsurance knowledge, CPA preferred, and at least 5 years in a controller capacity within a public P&C insurer. Collaboration across Finance and operations is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• CPA is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years leading teams in a controller capacity for a public P&C insurance company.
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance operations and related control processes.
• Solid understanding of balance sheet and income statement inter-relationships.
• Experience coordinating onshore and offshore resources to optimize time zones.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate excess of loss and quota share cessions and premium adjustments across multiple reinsurance programs.
• Create/review monthly journal entries and allocate deposit premiums to detailed code blocks.
• Calculate premium adjustments and coordinate with Reinsurance Collections on settlements and cash applications.
• Perform SOX controls reviews and respond to reinsurer inquiries with research and analysis.
• Support CFO and FP&A in answering questions on reinsurance activities for specific programs.
• Process monthly assumed reinsurance programs including retrocessions and review Schedule F Part 3 balances.
