Job summary

American International Group, Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Supervisory Accountant, Reinsurance, to lead financial and operational controlling for external reinsurance programs.

You will manage complex journal entries, premium adjustments, and offshore/onshore coordination to ensure accurate close and reporting. The role requires deep reinsurance knowledge, strong technical accounting skills, and ability to work with CFO/FP&A while maintaining strict SOX compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in a controller role for a public P&C insurer.
• Strong knowledge of reinsurance operations, accounting and related controls.
• Experience leading onshore/offshore teams and interacting with CFO/FP&A.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate excess of loss and quota share cessions and premium adjustments across programs.
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries.
• Calculate premium adjustments and deposits.
• Coordinate with Reinsurance Collections on settlements and cash application.
• Perform SOX controls reviews and documentation.
• Respond to reinsurer inquiries via research and analysis.
• Support CFO and FP&A on reinsurance program questions.
• Process monthly assumed reinsurance programs per SOA and retrocessions.
• Review Schedule F Part 3 for recoverables and funds held across programs.
