Job summary

MS Transverse, a subsidiary of MSIG USA and part of MS&AD Insurance Group, seeks a senior reinsurance wording expert in the US to review, edit, and interpret complex contracts across facultative, treaty, and retrocessional placements.

The position can be located in New Jersey or New York City, or remote for the right candidate, with mentorship responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Product teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; ARe or CPCU strongly preferred
• Advanced degrees, Juris Doctor/job-related designations preferred
• Fifteen + years progressive experience working on reinsurance wording in a US/London market
• Extensive, expert-level knowledge of reinsurance placements, terms & conditions
• Technical and/or analytic experience that can be adapted to current technologies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical, decision making, problem resolution and organizational skills
• Demonstrated track record leading complex, high-value contract negotiations and mentoring or managing junior team members

Responsibilities

• Independently review/edit/create/interpret complex and non-standard reinsurance contracts
• Memorialize negotiated placement terms including facultative, treaty, retrocessional arrangements
• Identify, resolve, and advise on complex technical and coverage issues
• Serve as primary escalation point between MS Transverse and Brokers/Reinsurers
• Draft and negotiate related contract documents and amendments
• Ensure contract language complies with regulatory and statutory requirements across admitted and non-admitted lines
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Product teams to support contract development and risk management
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members by reviewing contracts and explaining terms
• Develop department best practices, templates, and standard wording libraries
• Assist in additional projects as assigned
