Job summary

UFG Insurance is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Accountant to oversee accurate accounting and reporting of reinsurance transactions. You will ensure GAAP and statutory compliance, maintain data integrity, and support internal controls across financial systems.

Collaborate with Finance leadership, Actuarial, and Reinsurance Operations to provide technical support on treaty structures, cash settlements, and reconciliations, while pursuing process improvements and supporting audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• 3–6 years of reinsurance or insurance accounting experience.
• CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
• Strong GAAP and statutory accounting knowledge.
• Proficient Excel and familiarity with financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review ceded and assumed reinsurance journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist with disclosures and management reports related to reinsurance.
• Analyze reinsurance results and explain variances to management.
• Review treaty terms to ensure proper accounting treatment and policy alignment.
• Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, claims, and finance to resolve discrepancies.
