Job summary

UFG Insurance is seeking a Lead Accountant - Investment Reporting to lead critical investment accounting and reporting activities to ensure accurate financial information, disclosures, pricing, and timely deliverables within a complex insurance environment.

Working with the GAAP Financial Reporting Manager and cross-functional teams, this role serves as SME for investment accounting, guides others, supports audits, and leads process improvements and automation in investment reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with investment accounting.
• Experience with GAAP and statutory accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of investment-related components of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Coordinate investment accounting workstreams and ensure timely close and reporting.
• Oversee the accounting for investment purchases, income, gains/losses, and impairments.
• Review pricing, valuation and discrepancies with internal and external parties.
• Mentor and lead junior staff; provide coaching.
• Support internal and external audits and process improvements.
