Job summary

UFG Insurance is seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting - GAAP to support the preparation, analysis, and reporting of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, SEC filings, and related reporting deliverables.

The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, SEC reporting experience, and the ability to work independently within a collaborative finance team. Travel is infrequent and the position is remote within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
• 5 years of financial reporting experience, preferably in insurance.
• Experience preparing GAAP financial statements and disclosures.
• Knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting obligations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K).
• Analyze financial results, balances and trends; investigate variances.
• Support investment accounting and related schedules and disclosures.
• Assist with new accounting standards and reporting requirements.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for reporting responsibilities.
• Maintain documentation supporting financial reporting conclusions.
• Stay current on SEC developments and industry trends.
• Maintain SOX-compliant documentation and assist with audits.
• Participate in process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize systems and processes.
