Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel – Regulatory to support the preparation and litigation of Integrated Resource Plans and Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity for AEP’s operating companies.

The role involves advising on laws and regulations, formulating company positions, and coordinating with in-house and outside counsel to minimize regulatory risk.

Qualifications

• Eight plus years of experience as a practicing regulatory attorney.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and appropriate legal advice regarding the legal interests of the Company.
• Review proposed legislation and regulations and provide input for the Company’s position.
• Support vertically integrated operating companies in preparing and litigating regulatory proceedings.
• Align work with the goals of the Legal Department and manage outside counsel resources.
• Promote ethical standards and comply with the Principles of Business Conduct.
