Job summary

AEP is seeking a Senior Counsel/Assistant General Counsel to lead FERC regulatory affairs and related tariff matters. You will advise on complex rate issues, prepare filings, and coordinate with outside counsel and internal teams in a high-stakes regulatory environment.

The role demands extensive experience with FERC proceedings and a proven ability to drive strategy and advocacy across multiple stakeholders, including state and federal bodies.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required and active license to practice law in the relevant state.
• 6+ years in senior counsel roles, preferably in energy or electric utilities.
• 8+ years in roles including FERC matters or rate regulatory work.
• FERC regulatory experience in law firm, corporate, or regulatory staff.
• Strong writing, advocacy, and client-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent AEP on complex FERC proceedings and disputes involving rates, service, and planning.
• Develop and execute legal/regulatory strategy from issue identification to resolution.
• Prepare comments, protests, briefs, testimony, and settlement materials.
