Job summary

AEP is seeking an Assistant General Counsel / Senior Counsel, FERC, to lead complex federal energy regulatory matters before FERC and in PJM, SPP and MISO. Based on-site in Washington DC, Austin, Richmond, or Columbus, you will own matters from issue identification through resolution and coordinate with internal teams and outside counsel.

You will develop strategy, advise senior leaders, draft filings, and advocate AEP’s positions on transmission rates, interconnection, and wholesale market

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate and active bar license (state where role is located).
• 6+ years of experience in electric utility or energy sector law.
• 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney on FERC matters, with preference for AGC/GA status.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage significant federal FERC proceedings and related matters.
• Develop regulatory strategy and advocate AEP’s positions in filings and hearings.
• Represent AEP in PJM, SPP and MISO stakeholder processes and tariff matters.
• Coordinate with internal business teams and outside counsel to advance AEP objectives.
