Job summary

Bank of Montreal (BMO) in Chicago seeks an experienced compliance professional to support the Audit, Risk & Compliance program. You will independently perform risk assessments, design and execute test procedures, and report outcomes to management to ensure regulatory and internal policy alignment.

You will advise business groups on regulatory developments, assist with policy implementations, and collaborate with regulators and stakeholders to strengthen the control environment and monitor

Qualifications

• Typically, minimum 6 years of relevant experience and degree in related field or equivalent.
• CIA certification or equivalent preferred.
• Strong process analysis, risk and control identification, and testing capabilities
• Knowledge of second line and/or business operations & procedures
• Proficient in project management
• Verbal & written communication skills – In-depth
• Collaboration & relationship management – In-depth
• Analytical and problem-solving skills – In-depth
• Negotiation skills and ability to influence – In-depth

Responsibilities

• Independently develops and executes comprehensive test plans and procedures for outcome and oversight testing.
• Clearly documents evidence of testing activities to facilitate reperformance.
• Provides advice and guidance on business process design and supports risk management activities.
• Performs monitoring and testing to ensure regulatory compliance controls are operating.
• Applies professional skepticism and maintains open communication.
• Builds relationships with stakeholders and regulators.
• Analyzes and reports compliance information and testing outcomes to management.
• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with team members.
• Supports root cause analysis for material control failures.
• Identifies, assesses and oversees resolution of issues with remediation plans.
• Elevates high profile issues to management for prompt resolution.
• Advises first line of defense on compliance matters.
• Understands and interprets regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Works independently on a range of tasks including department initiatives.
