Job summary

The City of Signal Hill is seeking a Senior Recreation Specialist to plan, develop, and oversee senior programs and city-wide events within the Community Services Division. This individual will support community initiatives, manage permits, and coordinate with other departments.

Qualified candidates will have an AA degree in a related field, at least two years of senior recreation programming experience, and a valid California driver license with CPR/First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

• AA degree with 15 completed units in gerontology, recreation, social services, or related field.
• 2+ years of recreation programming for seniors and implementing community-wide events.
• Valid CA Class C driver license with acceptable driving record and insurance.
• Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, and oversee programs and events for senior citizens.
• Coordinate Facility Rental Applications, permits, and city-wide events.
• Support the Community Services Division, library and recreation divisions as needed.
• Hire, train, schedule, supervise part-time staff and volunteers.
• Maintain records, prepare basic reports, and assist in budget planning.
