Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Michigan is seeking a Product Development Engineer to own the release CAD and BOM structures for rear closures systems, coordinating with suppliers and design studios to deliver cost- and weight-efficient solutions.

You will lead feasibility analyses, manage data release within Ford's PLM, and support on-site builds through validation and testing, with travel and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires BS Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or related field.
• 8+ years in Automotive/Aerospace with rear closures experience.
• 5+ years in rear closures systems ownership (tailgates, liftgates, swing gates, doors).
• Experience with sheet metal structures, closures, stamping, seals, hinges.

Responsibilities

• Manage release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attributes.
• Facilitate supplier data integration and CAD studies to drive design improvements.
• Lead on-site build support and issue resolution for prototypes and pre- production components.
• Deliver current model quality improvements and support product testing and PSW.
• Support PLM data checks, version control, and change management within Ford’s ecosystem.
