Databento, the modern market data platform, is seeking a senior software engineer to own our Java client library and contribute across high-performance C/C++ services. You will implement parsers for market data feeds and drive low-latency optimizations alongside CI/CD improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, preferably in trading, tech or startup environments.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Java; familiarity with C# is a plus.
• Experience designing developer-friendly APIs and open source practices.
• Knowledge of systems programming, multithreading, network I/O, and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Java client library with robust, well-tested interfaces.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance server applications in C/C++.
• Write parsers and feed handlers for direct market data feeds.
• Optimize code for high throughput and ultra-low latency.
• Build tools/libraries for large-scale data processing.
• Collaborate on build, deployment, and CI/CD best practices.
