Job summary

Databento, Inc. is seeking a midlevel to senior IC to join our core engineering team in San Francisco. You will own and maintain the Java client library while collaborating on performance-sensitive C/C++ server components and market-data feed parsers.

You will optimize for throughput in the millions-of-messages-per-second range, work on petabyte-scale data processing, and contribute to CI/CD, monitoring, and reliable feature rollouts in a remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, preferably in finance/tech
• Strong proficiency in Java and C/C++
• Experience designing intuitive APIs for developers
• Familiarity with open source practices: releases, versioning, changelogs
• Knowledge of systems programming: multithreading, networking, serialization, CPU architecture

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain our Java client library, robust and easy for external users to integrate
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance server applications in C/C++
• Write message parsers and feed handlers for direct market data feeds
• Optimize codebase for high throughput and ultra-low latency
• Implement tools and libraries for petabyte-scale data processing
• Collaborate on build, deployment, CI/CD best practices
• Implement monitoring and improve application uptime
• Ensure smooth feature rollouts and updates
