Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Reality Capture 3D Laser Scanning Specialist to document existing buildings and environments using advanced scanning, drone capture, and reality capture workflows. You will convert field data into accurate digital models and collaborate with design teams to inform decisions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in 3D laser scanning, strong BIM/CAD skills, and the ability to travel frequently.

Qualifications

College or trade school education in architecture, surveying, construction, or a related AEC field, or equivalent relevant experience.
5+ years of professional experience with 3D laser scanning, field capture, registration, and processing of laser scan survey data.
Hands-on experience with laser scanning equipment and delivery of point cloud data.
Experience with BIM/CAD tools including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, ReCap and related workflows.
Understanding of LOA/LOD standards and QA/QC of scan data and BIM data.

Responsibilities

Perform field 3D laser scanning, registration, processing, and delivery of point cloud data for internal teams and clients.
Operate a range of scanning equipment to document buildings, sites, and spaces.
Process and align point clouds with BIM/Revit models and perform QA/QC.
Support drone capture, photogrammetry, and delivery of imagery and 3D models.
Collaborate with project teams to define capture requirements and workflows.
Champion reality capture technologies and improve firm workflows.
