Job summary

Field AI is seeking a Reality Capture & Sensor Payload Engineer to lead sensor selection, calibration, and integration on our robotic platform. You will work with product, mechanical, and electrical teams to build swappable sensor modules like LiDAR, cameras, GNSS, and gas sensors.

Responsibilities include developing data pipelines, validating sensor performance under real-world conditions, and mentoring junior engineers while shaping the sensor hardware roadmap.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics or related field.
• 9+ years experience for senior to staff level.
• Cross-domain engineering across mechanical, electrical and sensor hardware.
• Data and signal processing for point clouds and sensors.
• Experience with sensor hardware integration and ruggedized assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Select sensors (LiDAR, cameras, GNSS) based on accuracy and density.
• Design sensor mounting, calibration, time sync, and rugged enclosures.
• Build data pipelines turning sensor captures into georeferenced outputs.
• Lead cross-functional teams and roadmap for sensor hardware.
