Job summary

Netflix in Juneau, AK seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and implement real-time, ultra-low-latency streaming solutions using RTP/RTCP over IP networks to support interactive media worldwide.

You will collaborate with server-side delivery stacks, consumer and analytics teams to optimize designs, run lab and production tests (A/B), and push software craftsmanship from concept to production.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of congestion control, goodput, latency, and reliability for ultra-low-latency RTP streaming.
• Familiarity with low-latency, bidirectional media flows over IP and buffer management.
• Experience in network lab environments for controlled data-networking experiments.
• Experience with A/B testing for transport stack performance in production.
• Hands-on with RTP/RTCP, DTLS, SCTP, STUN/TURN, and ICE protocols.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Comfort collaborating across time zones with remote teams.
• Proficiency with Linux and packet capture tools (tcpdump, Wireshark) and scripting in Python or R.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop RTP/RTCP-based streaming solutions for high-interaction, low-latency delivery.
• Develop heuristics for cost, latency estimation, congestion control, and loss recovery.
• Collaborate with server-side delivery teams to integrate new designs.
• Partner with server, consumer, and analytics teams to validate designs using lab and production testing.
