AlphaGen is seeking a Sr. Generation Dispatcher for the Real Time Desk in Houston, TX.

You will oversee real‑time dispatch of generation assets within PJM, coordinating with PJM operators, plant personnel and transmission providers to balance resources with load while ensuring reliability and regulatory compliance. The role requires 10+ years in generation dispatch or PJM market operations, strong knowledge of power generation and grid operations, and proficiency with SCADA/EMS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (preferred)
• 10+ years in generation dispatch or PJM market operations
• Knowledge of power generation, grid operations, real‑time balancing
• Proficiency with SCADA, EMS, and dispatch platforms
• Familiarity with PJM dispatch protocols and LMP pricing
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
• PJM Generation certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year
• NERC System Operator Certification may be required by jurisdiction

Responsibilities

• Monitor and dispatch real‑time generation assets to meet system demand and market commitments
• Ensure alignment with PJM dispatch instructions and market schedules
• Execute dispatch instructions based on real‑time conditions and regulatory constraints
• Address PJM directives and coordinate with PJM operators and transmission providers
• Log dispatch activities and asset performance data for compliance
• Participate in post‑event analyses and continuous improvement initiatives
• Assist in demand response or system reductions when required
• Maintain awareness of asset availability, fuel constraints, and congestion in real time
