Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in New York seeks a highly accomplished Java engineer to join the Realtime Risk Data team. Lead architecture and delivery of real-time data acquisition, processing, and distribution, leveraging Kafka, Flink, and Pinot for ultra-low-latency analytics.

You will guide engineering teams, optimize pipelines, and ensure robust, scalable systems on S3/Trino while mentoring peers and driving Agile software practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering and software development building high‑performance distributed systems.
• Expert-level Java (11+) with multithreading and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, Flink, Pinot for real‑time data processing and analytics.
• Experience with large-scale storage (S3/HDFS) and distributed query engines (Trino/Presto, Spark SQL).
• Demonstrated agile leadership and collaboration across cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable, high‑availability Java‑based real‑time data solutions.
• Drive implementation and optimization of Kafka, Flink, and Pinot for ultra‑low latency analytics.
• Design, build, and operate real‑time streaming pipelines with S3 and Trino integration.
• Mentor senior engineers and lead technical reviews to improve code quality and resilience.
• Contribute across SDLC from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with analysts, product managers, QA, and other leads to align with objectives.
• Stay updated on emerging real-time data processing technologies and cloud architectures.
