Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Senior Data Streaming Engineer to design and deliver a real-time data platform, focusing on event-driven pipelines and streaming analytics. You will modernize legacy batch systems and collaborate with ITSM and enterprise teams to ensure data freshness and reliability.

The role requires expertise in Flink, Confluent Kafka, Iceberg, and modern data lakehouse patterns, with strong coding skills and a track record of delivering scalable data solutions in complex

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience with strong focus on data engineering
• 5+ years in data warehousing, data lakes, or MDM systems
• Experience with Apache Flink for stream processing and event time windowing
• Experience with Confluent Kafka and schema registry
• Experience with Apache Iceberg including partition evolution and ACID
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for data engineering
• Strong SQL and advanced querying/optimization
• Experience designing event-driven and streaming architectures
• Deep understanding of data modeling for streaming and lakehouse systems
• Experience with CDC frameworks and Kafka-based ingestion patterns

Responsibilities

• Lead story refinement and delivery through the lifecycle
• Code complex data integration, transformation, and data quality controls
• Collaborate with architecture and platform teams to enforce standards
• Lead testing and triage of issues across streams and pipelines
• Own data pipeline design, partitioning, and storage strategies
• Mentor Data Engineers for skill development
• Design and implement real-time data pipelines using Flink and Kafka
• Transform legacy batch workloads into streaming architectures
• Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders for requirements
• Support CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring of streaming pipelines
