Citi in Tampa, Florida seeks a Senior Java Big Data Developer to design, build, and scale high‑performance data platforms powering critical business decisions. You will lead complex data engineering using Java, Confluent Kafka, Flink, and modern big data tech across Citi's global environment.

In this senior role, mentor engineers, set coding standards, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable, governance‑driven deployments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in software or data engineering.
• Deep Java development experience with large-scale data applications.
• Hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka and Apache Flink (or Spark Streaming).
• Experience deploying and managing apps in Kubernetes and enterprise container platforms like ECS or OpenShift.
• Solid understanding of container orchestration, pod lifecycles, networking, and resource allocation.
• Proven ability to lead projects from design to production deployment.
• Leadership experience mentoring developers and coordinating delivery.
• Strong communication to translate complex tech for engineers and non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable big data pipelines using Java and Kafka.
• Architect data solutions aligned with enterprise standards for reliability and performance.
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads on ECS/OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Partner with product teams to identify enhancements and new capabilities.
• Define and enforce development standards across the team.
• Analyze complex processes to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
• Mentor mid-level developers and analysts to meet delivery goals.
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, governance, and data privacy requirements.
