Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Sr Controls Engineer to design, develop, and validate real-time control architectures for test facilities and next-generation hardware. You will own translating requirements into robust control software, with hands-on PLC programming and hardware integration.

The role requires deep expertise in real-time systems, controls algorithms, and production-ready validation, plus strong communication skills and a willingness to relocate to Van Horn, WA area as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 10+ years of hands-on real-time control system design/implementation.
• Deep proficiency in PLC programming across major platforms.
• Hands-on commissioning experience for complex test facilities.
• Strong understanding of real-time systems and safety-critical design.
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect control systems and real-time software.
• Support facility commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Develop PLC logic for Siemens and Rockwell platforms.
• Specify instrumentation, sensors, and signal conditioning.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for system integration.
• Document designs and mentor junior engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety and standards.
