Job summary

Genuine Search Group in New York is seeking an experienced Real Estate Project Accountant to manage accounting activities for assigned development and construction projects, track costs and budgets, and prepare financial reports.

You will assist with monthly close, review invoices, allocate expenses, and collaborate with project managers and development teams to monitor variances and ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of accounting experience, with project accounting experience preferred.
• Real estate, construction, or development accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working for a real estate owner/developer is ideal.
• Candidates coming from a general contractor or construction environment will also be considered.
• Strong understanding of project costs, budgets, and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities for assigned real estate development and construction projects
• Track project costs, budgets, invoices, and expenditures
• Prepare and maintain project financial reports and schedules
• Assist with monthly close and account reconciliations
• Review project-related invoices and ensure expenses are properly coded and allocated
• Work closely with project managers, development teams, and other internal stakeholders
• Monitor project budgets and identify variances or discrepancies
• Assist with construction and development accounting, including project cost tracking
• Support financial reporting and other accounting initiatives as needed
