Job summary

Century Group is partnering with a client seeking a Controller to join their team in California. This role oversees accounting operations for a real estate portfolio and reports to senior management.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 7+ years in progressive accounting roles, and leadership experience. Strong expertise in property accounting, close processes, and advanced Excel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Prior leadership experience managing and developing accounting professionals.
• Strong knowledge of property accounting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience utilizing accounting and property management software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and close activities for a portfolio of real estate assets.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, general ledger accounting, and other core financial functions.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning efforts to support business performance.
• Coordinate audits, tax reporting support, lender reporting, ownership reporting, and other external financial requirements.
• Develop and mentor accounting staff while improving processes and internal controls.
