Our SelectLeaders client builds residential communities with unique, sought-after amenities. They have decades of experience deploying, preserving, and growing capital in real estate investments and development opportunities worldwide.

The Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports for corporate financial reporting, residential land development, and build-to-rent (BTR) projects. Responsibilities include leading month-end close, managing accounting processes for assigned accounts (reconciliation, invoice processing, accounts payable review, intercompany accounting, audits, vendor inquiries, pay applications, reporting, and ad-hoc tasks). Collaboration with Acquisitions, Asset Management, Operations, Legal, and Property Management teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Oversight: Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting.
  2. Teamwork and Engagement: Build relationships with peers, vendors, financial institutions, and auditors.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax accounting, JV agreements, policies, and regulations.
  4. Continuous Improvement: Drive efficiency initiatives, mentor team members, and support company goals.
  5. Core Competencies: Develop skills in research, accuracy, organization, initiative, judgment, business acumen, and communication.
Position Responsibilities
  1. Maintain general ledger, verify and consolidate transactions.
  2. Prepare financial statements and reporting packages timely.
  3. Reconcile and analyze ledger and portfolio accounts.
  4. Ensure correctness of recorded entries.
  5. Manage accounts including cash, expenses, debt, receivables, and payables.
  6. Process annual 1099s and support schedules.
  7. Reconcile bank statements and maintain cash reports.
  8. Understand legal entity structures for proper accounting.
  9. Coordinate with Accounts Payable for invoice processing and vendor management.
  10. Manage month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
  11. Prepare management fee calculations.
  12. Meet financial closing deadlines.
  13. Collaborate with asset management, underwriting, marketing, operations, and legal teams.
  14. Implement data management best practices and ensure reporting consistency.
  15. Coordinate audits with external parties and maintain confidentiality.
  16. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4-7 years of accounting experience, with 1-3 years in portfolio or asset management; real estate development background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Sage, TimberScan, MS-Outlook.
  • Analytical skills and ability to communicate insights clearly.
  • Problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate.
  • Proactive, ethical, deadline-oriented team player.
Salary & Benefits
  • $90,000-$125,000 base salary + bonus.
