Job summary

The City of Irving seeks a Water Systems Technician for the Lake Chapman raw water system, located east of McKinney near Princeton, Texas. You will operate pump stations, electrical systems and SCADA, supervise staff, and inspect and repair pumps, tanks, pipelines and valves.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with some college or vocational training, 3 years in water maintenance (1 year pumping) or 2 years pumping with SCADA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with some college or vocational training.
• Three years of water system maintenance experience; at least one year pumping.
• Two years pumping plus SCADA experience acceptable.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel; TCEQ Class C license and Texas Driver’s license.

THIS POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED AND MAY CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE

Duties include operating raw water pump stations, electrical systems and the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system; and overseeing subordinate staff. Duties also include inspecting, maintaining and repairing pumps, motors, tanks, vaults, pipelines, valves, control valves and phone lines; maintaining grounds, easements and vehicles; preparing reports; and keeping related files. This position is assigned to the Lake Chapman raw water system at the booster station located 12 miles east of McKinney, just outside of Princeton, Texas. Must be available for callback in emergency situations and be able to adhere to a maximum 90-minute emergency response time. A high school diploma or GED, plus some college or vocational training in a related field, and three years of experience in water system maintenance with at least one year of pumping experience, or two year of experience in pumping and use of SCADA software required. Must be proficient with MS Word and Excel, currently possess a TCEQ Class C Water Distribution license and have a valid Class C Texas driver’s license.

PAY GRADE GG18 / FULL PAY RANGE $26.72 - $37.67 PER HOUR
