Position Status

Division Assignment

THIS POSITION WILL BE ASSIGNED TO ONE OF THREE DIVISIONS (UTILITY BILLING / METER SERVICES, FIELD OPERATIONS OR ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE)

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair city utility systems
• Locate, investigate and repair interruptions to the water and wastewater systems
• Complete water quality and dead‑end main flushing to resolve water quality complaints and to meet regulatory flushing requirements
• Utilize specialized machines to perform maintenance, repair and construction
• Set up safety and traffic control systems for repair work
• Stock crew trucks and work vehicles
• Clean, service and maintain tools, machinery, equipment and vehicles
• Prepare daily worksheet of job assignments and materials used
• Prepare work orders and close‑out work orders upon job completion
• Respond to service calls concerning emergencies, problems or issues due to inclement weather
• Operate equipment in confined areas, on steep slopes, wet areas and even areas immersed in water or wastewater
• Lifting or moving up to 100 pounds daily

Qualifications

• No experience is necessary, but must have a high school diploma or GED
• A valid Texas driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one by date of hire, is required
• To be hired at the higher pay range, at least one year of related experience is required, and must also have all licenses required for assigned work group
• When assigned to Field Operations, must obtain a Class A CDL and TCEQ Class D Water and Wastewater Collection I licenses within a specified time frame
• When assigned to Billing or Environmental Compliance, must obtain both a Class D and a Class C TCEQ Water License within the specified time frame
• Schedule will include day, evening, and night work, and will also include required participation in the standby rotation for assigned work group
• Applicants must submit hours of availability with application

Pay

• PAY GRADE GG12 – Full pay range $19.80 – $27.92 per hour ($41,184 – $58,080 annually)
• PAY GRADE GG13 – Full pay range $20.85 – $29.38 per hour ($43,368 – $61,116 annually)
