Job summary

Consumers Energy in Michigan is seeking a Senior Rate Analyst to lead complex rate analyses and regulatory filings for gas and electric operations. You will review filings before public utility commissions and develop testimony materials.

The role requires strong accounting and financial analysis, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while collaborating with Finance, Treasury, Legal, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Finance, Accounting, Political Science, Law, Engineering or related field plus 4+ years in complex rate analysis activities.
• Associate’s degree plus 6+ years in complex rate analysis activities.
• High School Diploma/GED plus 8+ years in complex rate analysis activities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor public utility commissions for changes in regulatory policies and determine actions.
• Update rate case exhibits and assist in preparing testimony for Cost of Service Study and Rate Design.
• Lead internal communications related to proposed tariff changes.
• Perform complex electric marginal and embedded cost-of-service studies; conduct special studies.
• Collaborate with IT to prepare for tariff changes and draft RFS docs and manuals.
• Track docket numbers, ROE, capital structure, rate base changes and customer rate impacts.
• Lead development of analyses to support regulatory approvals for electric rates and tariff provisions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
