Upbound Group, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer III in Draper, Utah, specializing in Ruby on Rails to design, build, and maintain backend platforms powering Acima's financial services.

You will work autonomously on scalable services, contribute to API design, and ensure reliability and security in a fast-paced team. Join a cross-functional environment, participate in agile processes, mentor junior engineers, and stay current with new technologies to drive innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of backend/distributed systems experience
• Strong Ruby on Rails and RESTful API knowledge
• Experience with TDD and RSpec testing
• Database design and optimization (PostgreSQL/NoSQL)
• Cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with microservices and CI/CD practices
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative communication

Responsibilities

• Contribute to full software lifecycle from concept to deployment
• Design and maintain backend services and APIs using Ruby on Rails
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile scrum
• Ensure code quality via tests, reviews, and best practices
• Address performance, DB query optimization, and security issues
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Stay current with new technologies to drive innovation
