Job summary

Terracon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support large transportation infrastructure projects across the United States.

This role requires travel and is predominantly field-based, monitoring construction activities for compliance with project requirements, specifications, plans, and industry standards. The Senior Inspector will conduct daily inspections across multiple disciplines including rail systems, signals, traction power, and related infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• 4-6 years' experience in construction inspection.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Experience with rail transportation projects preferred.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection per contract specifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance.
• Coordinates pre-dispatch activities with Project/Office Managers.
• Lead and coordinate activities of lower level inspectors.
• Follow safety rules and maintain quality standards on all projects.
