Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Long Island Rail Road division seeks an Engineer to lead the Signal Design group, develop and approve signaling designs, and oversee modifications for safe operation. You will work with vendors, consultants, and field personnel to ensure designs meet FRA/AREMA standards.

The role requires a BA/BS in Electrical Engineering with about 8 years in railway signaling and supervisory experience; NYS P.E. license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Must have progressively responsible railway signaling experience (≈8 years).
• Must have supervisory/managerial experience.
• Knowledge of FRA/AREMA standards and rail operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Principal Engineer Signal Design to manage the Signal Design Group.
• Provide final approval of circuit drawings and revisions prior to installation.
• Develop signal engineering plans and designs for modification to the system.
• Review and sign off on capital and third-party designs affecting signal systems.
• Support procurement of material and services and interface with vendors/consultants.
• Lead and mentor department personnel; ensure safe work practices.
