Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior System Engineer (HVAC) to join our Rolling Stock Engineering team in Hagerstown, Maryland. You will drive system requirements, interfaces, and verification activities for onboard HVAC systems, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across international projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in railway or complex industrial environments, with RAMS, DOORS, and 3D CAD experience (AutoCAD/Creo/CATIA).

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics preferred).
• 5+ years’ experience in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environments.
• RAMS principles and processes knowledge.
• Experience with engineering processes and railway operations.
• Experience with system engineering and requirements management disciplines.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia).
• Good knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
• Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a collaborative, international environment.
• Availability for occasional short-term national and international trips.

Responsibilities

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS).
• Define and manage system interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyze and assess technical documentation from suppliers.
• Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications.
• Conduct design reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
• Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and Functional Test Specifications (FTS).
• Attend system stand-alone type tests and review test reports.
• Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation.
• Review design documentation with customers and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with railway regulations and project constraints.
• Prepare documentation for vehicle approval and homologation support.
